Frequently asked questions
What age can you start potty training?
This depends on your child. Every child develops in their own way and at their own pace. If your child meets a number of criteria, you are ready to start. Don't focus on your child's age, but on their physical and mental development.
Do the test in the app to check whether your child is ready. 18 months is a great age for potty training from a physical point of view. In many countries, children are potty trained before 12 months.
Do I need to wait until my child shows an interest in the potty or toilet themselves?
No, you don't need to wait until your child shows an interest themselves. Every child develops in their own way and at their own pace. If your child meets a number of criteria, you are ready to start.
Don't focus on your child's age, but on their physical and mental development. Do the test in the app to check whether your child is ready.
Can you start potty training too late?
Each child develops in their own way and at their own pace. It is important to pay attention to your child's signals and start potty training when your child is ready. Don't miss the signs that your child is ready!
Several scientific studies show that there can be consequences for your child's health when starting potty training too late. When starting at a later age (after 3 years) there is a slightly higher chance that your child will develop incontinence, constipation and refusal to poop on a potty or toilet.

What does the Go Potty method entail?
With the Go Potty method, you switch from nappy to pants in one go (during the day and potentially also at night). You teach your child the basics in 3 to 5 days. This means staying at home with lots of accidents and lots of mopping up. It is about staying calm and positive every time there is an accident, being consistent, and persevering. So not putting a nappy on if there are lots of accidents! Most children nail it in a couple of days.
The method is based on positive reinforcement (praising your child if they use the potty) and clearly explaining what the intention is (wee goes in the potty).

Potty trained in 3 to 5 days. Is that really possible?
Yes most definitely! Hundreds of parents have done it already. With the right guidance, most children get through it in 3 to 5 days.
We deliberately say 3 to 5 days. Every child and every situation is different and some take longer than others. Some children will also need a little longer than 5 days. Everyone learns at their own pace.
Does the Go Potty method use force or pressure?
No, we don't believe in that. In order to wee and poo properly it is very important that you and your child are both relaxed.
It is about actively encouraging your child to learn something. It's the same as learning to walk. You actively offer it to your child, by letting them hold your hand or push a walker, for example.
Does the Go Potty method use a reward system?
Every child is different. Whether a reward system helps depends on your child. In our experience, mummy's and daddy's pride is usually enough to motivate a child.
Therefore, we do not offer a reward system. However, you can use our method and come up with your own reward system. We give tips on this in the app.
I am already potty training, but it is not going well yet. Can we still use Go Potty?
Have you been trying for a while, but it still doesn't really work out? Do you still have a lot of accidents? Has your child mastered weeing, but is still struggling with pooing? Then our method is also suitable for you.
We explain how to get it right the first time and help you persevere. With our tips, most children become potty trained quickly.
